Pour yourself a wee dram, because today on Museum Bites we’re telling the tale of Thenue, a 6th century maiden who was thrown off a cliff and cast out to sea. Princess or witch? Sinner or saint? Thenue has been called many different names, but she is best known as the mother of Glasgow. Join me to learn more about her fascinating story and the city’s beautiful tribute to their patron saint.
Wee Bluey
Fasten your seatbelts because today on Museum Bites we’re taking a spin in a Wee Bluey. Although it doesn’t take flight like the Weasleys’ flying car, this three-wheeled wonder zipped down British roadways offering its drivers a taste of freedom and a dangerous thrill ride. Buckle up it’s time for takeoff!
Sisterhood
Oktoberfest is in full swing and today on Museum Bites we’re raising a glass (Prost!) to Bavarian artist, Martin Zürn and his delightful sculpture, Saint Walburga of Eichstätt with Nuns (c1600-1625 CE). Born into a family of saintly go-getters, this 8th century nun busted through more than one stained-glass ceiling. Join me as we take a closer look at her life and Zürn’s cheery portrayal.
